The Municipal Pension Plan is continuing to offer its two pension seminars throughout British Columbia to educate members about their Plan. Your Pension, Your Future is aimed at new and mid-career plan members while Thinking About Retiring provides information for members within five years of retirement.
Attached to this e-mail are the Spring 2009 Pension Seminar Schedules and Registration Forms. We ask that you distribute these schedules to your plan members and post them in common areas.
Our seminar schedules are updated continually; therefore, our easy-to-use online registration system is the best way for members to register for a seminar. This tool provides the most current schedule information and allows members to register quickly, saving valuable time. Members will receive an instant confirmation by e-mail, including the date, time and location of the seminar. We ask that you make your members aware of this exciting new enhancement to our website.
Members can access the online registration system through our website at mpp.pensionsbc.ca, under the Pension Information Seminars section. This section also provides a link to view the schedule and register manually with a paper form.
For inquiries regarding client education, contact us by e-mail at mppseminars@pensionsbc.ca, by phone in Victoria at 250 356-8547 or toll-free at 1 877 558-5573.
Thank you for your assistance,

General Kindergarten Registration:
If you have not already registered your child for Kindergarten at your neighbourhood school, please do so as soon as possible.
If your child is 5 years old by December 31, 2009, s/he is eligible to start school this coming September. Please see below for further Kindergarten registration information.
When registering for a Kindergarten program, please bring your child’s Birth Certificate (or other proof of age), B.C. Care Card, and Immunization Records with you. Parents may choose to defer their child’s entry to school, based on readiness, for one year. Please contact your neighbourhood school for consultation if you are concerned about your child’s readiness.
French Immersion Registration:
French Immersion is a bilingual program which is open to all children throughout the Prince Rupert School District. French language spoken at home is NOT a prerequisite for this program, and most parents of French Immersion students typically do not speak French themselves. Your child must have reached the age of 5 years before Dec. 31, 2009, to be eligible to be enrolled in the kindergarten program for September 2009. Children entering Grade 1 may also register for French Immersion.
To learn more about the Immersion program offered at École Westview School, please either visit or call École Westview School (250 624 6147).
École Westview School is a dual-track school offering both a complete French Immersion K-7 program as well as a complete K-7 English program.
The deadline for submitting Cross Boundary Application Forms has now passed. Any Cross Boundary Applications forms received after the deadline will be considered in September on a first-come, first-served basis.
If your child/ren are currently attending an elementary school on an approved Cross Boundary Transfer request, please note that you MUST resubmit a Cross Boundary Transfer request annually. Secondary students currently attending a secondary school on an approved Cross Boundary Application DO NOT need to reapply.
Application Forms (please submit a separate form for each student):
