Out on Screen presents in Rupert on Thur.May29th

Out in Schools will be in Planning Classes at Charles Hays Secondary School here in Prince Rupert Thur. May29th, 2008 and after school for a Queer Youth Alliance and Friends screening and discussion. Time and place will be posted soon. Prepare to bring your friends, and eat pizza!

Who? Out in Schools bring amazing films and discussion about queer youth to those who need to hear it (all of us)! Here’s what they say on their site:

“That’s so gay!”

“Out in Schools smashes stereotypes by bringing queer film to local high schools and facilitates discussions on bullying and homophobia. By providing positive queer role models we aim to make schools safer by celebrating diversity.”

Prince Rupert School District teachers and support staff will have the same opportunity on their Professional Development Day, Friday May 30th.

QYA at Seafest again?

We all know we’d love to see it, so be in it!

Reply here or contact me directly and we’ll set up our first work (and pizza-eating) meeting, on the path to something fabulous. Let’s not make last year’s RupertQYA march in the Seafest Parade a queer oddity!

QYA Planning Meeting Tue Nov20 3:45pm @ Civic Centre

Well, we didn’t post our Tuesday event here, oops, but that’s now come and gone.

Next Meeting:  Tue Nov20 3:45pm @ Civic Centre Raven Room - QYA Planning Meeting focussed on getting ready for the big, gay table at the city Garage Sale on Sat Nov24 (it’d be nice to get Guild-folks out too) - fundraising, visibility, and fun!

Coming up, a Christmas party?  Possibly on the weekend of Dec7th/8th.

Post your ideas on the planning page (see tab at the top right of this page) - (I emailed out the password) or the discussion page.  Then come to the meeting Tue Nov20th to make it happen!
